Coach - Swim Squad

An exciting opportunity has been created with the establishment of a new Swim Club at SGAC Aquatics. The Coach for the Swim Squad will assist the Assistant Aquatics Manager with the entire SGAC Aquatics Swim Squad Development Pathway, engaging with a diverse range of abilities, ranging from Learn to Swim to competitive swimming to encourage, promote and mentor individuals into the sport of swimming.

 

THE ROLE

The successful applicant will assist in the implementation of the new SGAC Aquatics Swim Club and will work across the entire SGAC Aquatics Swim Squad development pathway, beginning with our high-end level Learn to Swim/Stroke Correction programs to then develop, mentor and encourage individuals to participate in competitive swimming. 

 

The successful applicant will be committed to 15-20 hours a week.

The successful applicant will also hold a minimum of a Bronze License swim coaching qualification

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Develop and implement training sessions focused on swimming skill and technique
  • Ensure a culture exists that encourages and generates strong swimmer engagement
  • Provide support to stroke correction teachers to ensure smooth transitioning between the Learn to Swim Program and the Squad Program.
  • Ensure a safe, fun and education environment for swimmers under your care
  • Provide coaching in a safe, fun and educational way to enable swimmers to develop essential swimming skills and techniques
  • Continually assess swimmer’s performance

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • 3+ Years of consistent technical coaching experience
  • Demonstrated Programming experience/development
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming & Water Safety
  • AUSTSWIM Teacher of Competitive Strokes
  • Current First Aid Certificate 
  • Current CPR Accreditation
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Bronze Coaching Accreditation
  • Silver Coaching Accreditation (desirable).

 

This is a casual position with varied hours. Due to the nature of the sport & fitness industry, the position will involve rosters working after hours and on weekends.

 

Candidates are requested to provide their availability to work as part of their applications. Those with more flexible availability will have an advantage.
